I instantly abort any video that has those flashy, word-by-word, jumpy subtitles burned into the video.

Not “maybe later”.
Not “I’ll try”.
Hard abort. ✋

They make the video nervous.
They hijack attention.
They turn watching into work.

My brain literally cannot focus on the content because it’s constantly being poked with animated neon words screaming “LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE”.

This isn’t accessibility.
This is attention malware.

It’s optimized for doom-scrolling, not thinking.
For retention graphs, not comprehension.
For algorithms, not humans.

If your content needs every single word to pop, bounce, glow and explode to stay interesting… maybe the problem isn’t the viewer.

Normal subtitles? Fine.
Sentence-level captions? Great.
Optional CC? Perfect.

But forced, flashy, TikTok-style karaoke text baked into the video?
Nope. I’m out. 🚪

Protect your attention.
Abort noisy content.
Choose signal over stimulus.

" #Newsavoidance can become “news aversion” (more emotional, more visceral), turning away from the #news not because of some deliberate rational judgment (“I’ll reduce my viewing a little, according to American Psychological Association guidelines”) but because of overwhelming feelings of #anxiety or disgust when confronted by certain stories or individuals."
