@theradioguy Whilst it's true that there is no free speech in war. There is no war according to Trump, but journalists will be done for treason for exercising their non-war right to free speech and will be American political prisoners inside America... 🤐 #cognitivedissonance #iran #iranwar

By the way, it IS A WAR and it is unconstitutional.

Voters are angry. One Nation’s support is real, rising and no longer surprising

Crunched by high inflation and spiralling petrol prices, the electorate is in a bad mood and it’s starting to take it out on the government, not just the opposition.

imo scientists need to stop being terrified of loudly publicly stating
the bleedin' obvious, viz:

it ain't
everyone who is one of these stupid boiling frogs. it is explicitly, specifically, that cohort of fools blinded by their RWNJ politics, &/or their idiotic skyfairy delusions. otoh, we sane moral peeps who do not succumb to such toxic fantasies, know full fucken well the severe crisis our forebears created & which contemporary humans continue to accelerate. we despair, & rage.

Why we fail to notice climate change

People quickly normalize extreme weather. Simple visuals highlighting abrupt change could help climate change break through our mental blind spots.

I notice myself, as a white woman, holding my nose and looking past that little nugget of intersectional edgelordism, but I also notice that I’m not living at that particular intersection. But of course there’s edgelordism elsewhere in the game aimed at my stuff. That’s the bit I wanted to discuss, but I didn’t want to step over the #racism on the way to processing my #cognitiveDissonance in being 40 hours into an objectively terrible thing.

@kentparkstreet1 i concur, but only up to a point. i continue to grumpily assert that

obviously a failure of judgementis in the first instance still manifested by #thegreatunwashed who in their infinite idiocy selfishness & myopia continue not voting for the greens en masse... arseholes.

In some truly shocking news from the nation's political sphere, a number of noise merchants are making some noise.

With the country gripped by a 'fuel crisis' - some of our nation's hardest working political figures are making sure to combat the issue at hand.

By yelling into whatever microphone they can get their hands on about how the country's farmers are about to be left high and dry and little old grannies will be stranded in their apartments.

Similarly to the toilet paper crisis that saw places run out of toilet paper because everyone panicked and dropped everything they were doing to go and get as much loo roll as possible - large companies have sensed a supply and demand payday and decided to make a motza.

That's seen the political characters who've spent their careers railing against alternative fuel sources start beating the drum about how the country only has 50 days of fuel left - as if we are suddenly going to stop let large petro states price gouge us for fuel and let the country turn into a Mad Max dystopia.

On top of being reluctant to point out how misleading the 'we only have 50 days of fuel stat is' they also seem pretty chill on the fact that the guys who've spent decades trying to stop the country having alternative fuel sources and energy security are the ones banging on about not potentially having fuel shortages and energy security.

The more opportunities we have in life the lower is our tolerance for cognitive dissonance.

We just walk away.

Instead of trying to fix this worldview-reality gap we act as if the person displaying it doesn't exist.

That's peak selfishness.

No community and especially no democracy can survive such behavior

>> “#Democrats and #Republicans are the same" …
>> the cognitive dissonance truly boggles my mind.

Saying something out of context or without any context (as in the example you cited above) will do that to your mind.

Try this:

"Horses and fish are the same because they have eyes to see with and mouths to eat from, but a bird and a fish are not the same because one can fly while the other cannot."

Democrats and Republicans both grift.

Do you find #cognitiveDissonance in this too?

It's very weird to be walking around in 65° weather (30° over historical average) in early March in New England in a light cotton shirt with my sleeves rolled up - surrounded by a ton of snow.

Like most dogs, #SunshineSadie prefers to prance around in the snow as long as possible.

The river is running quite high - about a month early. If we have another spring and summer without much rainfall, the snow pack won't help as much as it could.
