Changes to cougar diets and behaviors reduce their competition with wolves in Yellowstone, study finds | Newsroom

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A new study shows that interactions between wolves and cougars in Yellowstone National Park are driven by wolves stealing prey killed by cougars and that shifts in cougar diets to smaller prey help them avoid wolf encounters. The study, published at a time of growing overlap between cougar and wolf habitats in the western United States, found wolves occasionally killed cougars, but cougars did not kill wolves.

A quotation from Adlai Stevenson

True patriotism, it seems to me, is based on tolerance and a large measure of humility.

Adlai Stevenson (1900-1965) American diplomat, statesman
Speech (1952-08-27), “The Nature of Patriotism,” American Legion Convention, Madison Square Garden, New York City

What the fuck? Dude can't even bring himself to say "culture."

Hey. Dimwit! The habit of smiling is not acquired upon American naturalization, nor is it distributed by Customs and Immigration Services. It's acquired through FUCKING CULTURE.

Whiteness, folks. It bleaches all away and leaves only emptiness and hunger. Stop fucking feeding it.

In-fucking-credible the lengths people will go to redefine words because they can't fucking conceive of "white" not being "default."

P.S. BTW, research shows Americans developed the habit of smiling in order to appear non-threatening to out-group members. It's what happens when you live in—despite how shitty we sometimes are about it—one of the most pluralistic cultures on the planet. So erasing its history erases the efforts we have made to coexist with folks with whom we share nothing in common.

Imagine that. Fuck this guy and his whole white website.

A quotation from The Bible

Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise. If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good. Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody.

A quotation from The Bible

Give a welcome to anyone whose faith is not strong, but do not get into arguments about doubtful points. One person may have faith enough to eat any kind of food; another, less strong, will eat only vegetables. Those who feel free to eat freely are not to condemn those who are unwilling to eat freely; nor must the person who does not eat freely pass judgement on the one who does — because God has welcomed him. And who are you, to sit in judgement over somebody else’s servant? Whether he deserves to be upheld or to fall is for his own master to decide.

Good idea: corridors for southern Africa's growing elephant population

https://news.mongabay.com/2025/12/corridors-not-culls-offer-solution-to-southern-africas-growing-elephant-population/

In Southern Africa overall, populations of elephants are stable, or even growing, but space for them is not. This pressure has increased human-elephant conflict and fueled calls from some for elephant culls. Z16’s epic trek underscores a quieter, more hopeful solution to the region’s so-called “elephant problem”: keeping the routes that connect fragmented ranges open through the creation and protection of wildlife corridors.

Corridors, not culls, offer solution to Southern Africa’s growing elephant population

Since being collared in Zambia two years ago, a young bull elephant known to researchers as Z16 has walked nearly 12,000 kilometers, or 7,500 miles — three times the distance between New York and Los Angeles. In that time, Z16 has traversed four countries and visited six national parks. In Southern Africa overall, populations of […]
