GCC has released Release Candidate 1 for GCC 16. The final release objective is for late April or May. GCC COBOL (gcobol) 16 is included in the release with many fixes and improvements. #cobol #gcobol #gcc #cobolworx

COBOL for GCC update: Nist and our Regression bucket running clean. GDB integration well along (skipping paragraphs with next not working yet). Two collaborators challenging the team has surfaced plenty to work on. But it's still Worth A Try! Packages for Debian/Ubuntu on COBOLworx.com

@itamarst LOL ... FOSS COBOL is just fine. GnuCOBOL is in production in many places in Europe. COBOL for GCC (gcobol) is well along for future use. Recompiling is MUCH cheaper than any other approach. AND it's easier to train a good COBOL programmer than most other languages. #cobolworx
