These twigs where collected from larger branches that broke off after last weeks sudden heavy snowfalls. Those were caused by #climatecatastophy warming up the mediterranean sea say metereologists. As large quantities of wet snow fell on #trees already in leafe, the weight tore down whole trees and major parts of trees. Looking out of the train, it seemed like about every second tree at the bottom of the #rhone valley was heavily damaged. The twigs in the picture stem from a higher altitude (about 2000m AMSL).

XR Nijmegen has protested yesterday at the citiy council meeting against plans to grant energy firm ENGIE to construct a new gas power plant at the outskirts of the city. ENGIE says the plant will be powered with so called green hydrogen.
While green hydrogen is a highly inefficient energy storage medium as such, the power plant can be used with fossil gas (often euphemistically called 'natural' gas) as well. Activists fear that this a greenwashing scheme of ENGIE that allows to construct yet new fossil fuelled infrastructure in the midst of the looming #climatecatastophy.

Somehow I get the feeling that we will end up with the #climatecatastophy situation described in "Ministry of the Future" by #kimstanleyrobinson where only the eco terrorists create the change we need by eliminating fossil fuel industry and profiteers the hard way.
