Ok. I will try & clarify a little to the best of my understanding I believe, as the codebase for #matrix is open and available under an #apache license (see: https://github.com/vector-im) for #Element source.
While now they are separate entities they both practise the same principles of freedom.
So, technically, yes I think some folks could fork it & "sell it" as a product/app but I do not believe this would make it #propsoft ?! #clearasmud
