Have you ever noticed that Democrats are often blamed for everything, even actions taken by Republicans?

This phenomenon can be explained by what is known as Murc’s Law.

It reflects the dangerous belief that only Democrats have political agency, as if Republicans are merely reacting to Democratic actions like toddlers lacking self-control.

Under Murc’s Law, every decision made by the GOP is attributed to the Democrats. People say things like, “They provoked it,” “They didn’t stop it,” and “They failed to compromise.”

Meanwhile, Republicans escape scrutiny and remain unquestioned, uncriticized, and unaccountable.

Murc’s Law serves to normalize authoritarian behavior while placing the blame on those who are trying to uphold democratic principles.

Do not fall for it; call it out when you see it.
