I knew were fucked when we decided to be ok with calling #Corporations 'persons'

A corporation has no soul, & no reason for being other than to maximize profits & aggrandize power to itself. #Trump is the Apotheosis of Corporate Personhood

#CitizensUnited has got to go

@NanoBookReview Exciting news out of Montana!

Every step toward ending Citizens United is a good step.

The more money we get out of politics the better it will be for everyone.

100 billionaire families spent $2.6B on ONE election. That's not democracy. That's an auction. The donor class bought the system. Working people need to take it back. 💥 #DefundOligarchs #BillionaireClass #CitizensUnited #TaxTheRich #TheWashingtonPretzel #USPoliTickle

#CitizensUnited stole their futures so that every local oligarch may have a turn at running America, which they despise for its laws displaying concern for others, into the ground. Trump got to go first, likely because he possesses the most blackmail on the others. He got to go second, too, because the others all saw the boxes.

Why College Graduates Feel Betrayed

Their anger goes far beyond the recent rise of unemployment and the looming threat of A.I. Political observers on the left and right had very different views on whether Zohran Mamdani would be a good mayor of New York City. But one thing they agreed on was why so many young college graduates …

The New York Times - Noam Scheiber
Al Gore should have been President.

When the Supreme Court stepped in and refused the right to have a recount, that was the first time I felt something was wrong with this country. You didn’t even need to vote in that election to feel something was wrong.

Citizens United should never have been approved by the Supreme Court.

Money should not entitle you to more rights, nor should a faceless corporation be viewed as a human being. That was another moment when I knew something was wrong. We basically failed common sense.

Bernie Sanders would be our President if the DNC did not ignore the voting population. It was broadcast on live TV and reuploaded to YouTube, where many Americans watched in disbelief as the opinion of the chair ignored the vote and said Hillary Clinton needed her turn, as if the presidency were an inheritance. They later even argued in court that, as a private party, they could choose whomever they wanted and that the primaries were only ever a formality.

Once more, now in his second election, Bernie Sanders should have won. Even The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Time magazine were asking, “Were we ready for a socialist?” and predicting he would win, only for the DNC to have a bunch of people jump into the race and endorse the last-place candidate, whose campaign had won nothing and was near bankruptcy: Joe Biden. I have never seen anyone endorse the last-place candidate except in that election.

Joe Biden was always going to lose a second term. He had only been forced upon us and put up with because people had had enough of Donald Trump’s first term. But the old man, along with the DNC, held onto Joe Biden running well past the primaries and did a surprise switch to Kamala Harris for the general election. Kamala Harris, who was so unpopular that she had dropped out of the primaries four years prior before anyone voted, was, of course, going to lose. The Pikachu face of surprise afterward was just sad.

The United States has a problem — many of them, actually. How our leaders are selected is one of them.
