I reach Roosevelt Circle at 7:31 and set up my sign, connect my speaker, and am settling into practice, holding up WEIRD IS THE NEW NORMAL as my Friday message. And then I hear a familiar voice, and it's Craige, who's been out for over a month with a variety of health difficulties! I leap up, embrace him, and we take the next ten minutes sitting on the rail, catching up.

Not as cold as yesterday, but still chilly enough that I'm grateful for my multiple layers. I reach Roosevelt Circle at 7:30, set up my big sign, couple my speaker, and hold up CHANGE OUR CONVERSATION / CHANGE OUR CONSUMPTION / CHANGE OUR GOVERNMENT. I'm not fully awake yet, but the fatigue I feel over most of my body is not unpleasant.

Wednesday morning and it seems we're back to winter temperatures; it's in the mid-to-low 20s F and a damn good thing I checked ahead of time, because I'm wearing multiple layers and heat packs and the whole kit and kaboodle. It's in the low 40s this morning, but with a strong gusty wind that whips my sign around a bit as I walk up to Roosevelt Circle, arriving at 7:31. Today's hand-held message is EVERY DISASTER MOVIE STARTS WITH A SCIENTIST BEING IGNORED. Mercifully, it's not raining, and even though the wind occasionally gets too assertive for my taste I'm reasonably comfortable here.

Jeez. It's raining pretty heavily AND it's cold. Minimally protected by a small umbrella and a plastic poncho, I'm nevertheless getting damper by the minute; only a full rain suit with trousers would have kept me dry. And (stupidly) I'm wearing sneakers? What was I thinking? Anyway, I reach Roosevelt Circle at 7:32, and it's ALL-BLACK signage as usual for a Monday.
