My sister just sent me a photo of this giant neon green cicada that's hatching on her porch. We've never seen anything like it! I haven't been able to ID the species yet, as the internet is fairly enshittified these days. Random old and closed Reddit posts aren't going to help me.
Isn't it amazing, though? I wonder what kind of sound it makes. I guess she's going to find out!

In my yard their calls appear to pulse between about 82 and 88 dbA. The peak reading I observed was 90dbA.
