Bei den #Goldwespen (hier wohl Chrysis sp.) gibt es zahlreiche schwer zu unterscheidende Arten. Sie sind aus der Nähe hübsch anzusehen. An Nisthilfen stellt ihr Vorkommen allerdings für bereits bestückte Nester von anderen Bienen- und Wespenarten eine schlechte Nachricht dar. Wenn diese Brutparasiten ein geeignetes Nest gefunden haben, klettern sie rückwärts in die Bruthöhle und legen ein eigenes Ei ab.

Schillernd wie ein Juwel und dennoch ein echter Parasit – diese Goldwespe nutzt fremde Nester, um ihren Nachwuchs großzuziehen. Statt selbst zu bauen, legt sie ihre Eier bei anderen Wespen- oder Bienenarten ab. Die Larve frisst dann die Wirtslarve und deren Vorräte – ziemlich clever, wenn auch ein bisschen fies.

#Cuckoowasps (#Chrysididae) always have a close relationship with other insects, mostly other #Hymenoptera, they can be brood parisites, which kill the host larva but mostly feeding their #foodsupply. They can also be #parasitoids that feed on older larvae or pupae. I previously identified the species shown as #Hedychrum #rutilans, but it may be H. #gerstaeckeri, the #hosts would then be: #Cerceris rybyensis and C. ruficornis. #biodiversity

@alexwild That's a lot of Chrysis!

My favourite Chrysididae is the Emerald Cuckoo wasp, Stilbum cyanurum. Always get a kick out of seeing it again, most often on mint flowers.
