Recent events called to mind various novels set in alternative/dystopian history in the #uk and #us. I can recall five or so relating to the #uk, namely '1984' by #georgeorwell , 'when the kissing had to stop' by #constantinefitzgibbon , 'when william came' by #saki , 'dominion' by #cjsansom and 'a very british coup' by #chrismullin . Two of the five are about the imposition of a regime rather than later experience of and reactions to it.
