YES! The #GreatKoalaNationalPark is finally - after a decade of fighting - reality! The park will cover *ALL* the 176,000 hectares originally included in the study, linking together with existing reserves to make the largest National Park of 476,000 hectares total, covering rainforest and sclerophyll. A complete moratorium on logging these areas will come into force tomorrow and remain until the paperwork for the park is finalised and in legal force.
These mid-north coast forests are the most important koala habitats in Australia, but also are the most biodiverse and life rich ecosystems outside of the the wet tropics.
There is still much to do. #ChrisMinns still maintains that native forest logging has a future in #NewSouthWales - It does not, and has no future anywhere in Australia. Minns and #Albo still need to be made to understand this. This work isn't done till we have a federal ban on all native logging.
Nonetheless, today is frikkin wonderful! Be happy and celebrate, because NSWs beautiful and sacred northern forests and all life are much, much safer today. #ForestryCorp is on the back foot. Their days are numbered. Today is a happy day 💚🌳🐨🌳💚
