Two semi-related things rattling around in my mind today.
Chris Hedges interviewed William Hartung about his book "Trillion Dollar War Machine: How runaway military spending drives America into foreign wars and bankrupts us at home". Mr Hartung mentions there being 2 paid lobbyists related to military industrial complex (MIC) for each American politician.
It got me thinking about the recent NATO 5%
defense spending pledge. Was that a US initiative? Indeed, yes.
Wow. What a convenient way to expand the market for the US war machine. Oh, here's a reference: “The higher defense pledge could nearly double the addressable market for U.S. contractors"

Wonder how the MIC feels about Trump periodically threatening to invade Canada. It put a chill on that F35 fighter jet order, though I see it's not cancelled yet.
