Opted for transport with separate DAC, choosing the new Quad 3CDT paired up with the Chord Qutest. Sounds excellent, a distinct improvement on what we had.

MatthewBeing of a scientific bent, when I read about common chord progressions I didn't just take it as read, but decided to try them out to see why they go together.
Most make sense, they usually use some or most of the notes of the subsequent chord or they are played by a simple hand movement.
One or two however just don't seem to work, more of a car crash than harmony. Could this disc(h)ord be deliberate ... to add "spice" to the progression similar to pepper on a meal?
