12.10.2025 : Réveillés à 23h30 la veille, c’est aujourd’hui la grande journée de l’ascension. Après avoir mangés, on s’encorde et mettons nos crampons. La qualité de la neige est bonne le temps est dégagé et la lune éclaire un peu ce soir.
Vers la fin les choses se compliquent : quelques pentes sont raides et laissent peu de place à l’échec. Ajouter à cela des rafales à -20 degrés qui gèlent mes joues, au point d’être incapable de prononcer le moindre mot au sommet.

The word cholita has in the past been used as a pejorative term for the Indigenous Aymara women of Bolivia. But the women in these photographs are reclaiming the word: they are “Cholitas Escaladoras”, or climbing cholitas. In 2019, they summited the 6,961 metre (22,841ft) peak of Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest mountain outside Asia, while wearing traditional dresses and shawls.
