Hello everyone, I’ve been messing around with Choice Script for a toy project, and I’ve run into a few accessibility issues. For context, I’m blind, and I primarily use Windows with the free NVDA screen reader, though I also use an iPhone. All tests were performed with the latest version of Firefox. Here are the two major issues I’ve found: For *input_text and *input_number fields, NVDA announces them as “edit.” While the label is visually present (e.g., “name”), there is no <label> element ...
And we're launched! Quest into mysterious underground caverns to learn magical secrets, draw strength from friends and family, secure alliances that can save your home, and carry on the heroic legacy of Stronghold!
I'm excited about the release of my next interactive fiction game from Choice of Games -- Stronghold: Caverns of Sorcery, coming January 30! Out today, my author interview, in which I talk about sequels, genre, and dragons:

Today's edits: implementing the ability to load saves from Stronghold: A Hero's Fate into Stronghold: Caverns of Sorcery.
Today's unfortunate discovery: The town's leader in game 2 should be the heir (child, nephew, or protege) of the original player character in game 1. But it's technically possible to get your last possible heir killed. So now the game includes a character who exists purely to be leader if everyone else has kicked the bucket. Yay?
I am always amused in beta by the difference between bugs that really alarm playtesters, and bugs that are actually a pain in the ass to fix.
"This whole section is confusing, I can't tell whether I'm in location A or location B, it's seriously messed up!" = One number in the code is wrong.
"Just a little typo here, this line trails off in the middle, but no worries!" = Six months ago I forgot to write a bunch of text. Wonder what it was supposed to be?
God I hate #Twine so much
Whoever wrote the save system should be ashamed of themselves, it's ridiculously easy to undo a ton of progress by accidentally loading when you were trying to save over that slot. If it has to work in such a stupid way, not even a confirmation???
And god forbid we be able to use the keyboard, wouldn't want to do anything accessible for disabled players!! Guess I should just put myself in pain to play your game! #if #choiceofgames #interactivefiction #accessibility
Now for the traditional stage of editing a #choiceofgames game, in which I try to stop various characters who should be dead from persistently and inappropriately rising from the grave.
(No, if he is dead, he can't be undressing you, it's not that kind of game.)
Quand je joue aux jeux #VampireTheMasquerade sur #ChoiceOfGames :
1. Night Road 😻
2. Out for Blood 😽
3. Parliament of Knifes 😸
4. Sins of the Sires 🙀
