Primero, una garza real inmóvil entre los reflejos dorados del canal. Más adelante, un grupo de corzos que me barruntaba en silencio; Un chochín saltando nervioso entre la madera, un martín pescador azul eléctrico observando la superficie del agua desde su posadero; un colirrojo tizón sobre el terrón de un barbecho, un petirrojo confiado y curioso, y para rematar, un bando de perdices alimentándose entre los matorrales.
Hay días en los que la suerte simplemente te encuentra. Y sí, ese día probablemente debería haber ido a comprar lotería.
There are days when you see absolutely nothing —nada, niente, rien, nichts…—. And then suddenly, one morning, on a walk of barely three kilometers, nature decides to be generous and give you an unexpected gift.
First, a grey heron motionless among the golden reflections of the chanel. Further on, a group of roe deer silently sniffing at me; a wren hopping nervously among the wood, an electric-blue kingfisher observing the water's surface from its perch; a black redstart on a clod of fallow land, a robin, trusting and curious, and to top it all off, a covey of red partridges feeding among the bushes.
There are days when luck simply finds you. And yes, that day I probably should have gone and bought a lottery ticket.
