I've just learned that this little guy is the only Northern #viscacha living in Europe! 😳 He's over 20 years old, which seems to be an age record for these animals, even in captivity. When this grandpa passes away, there will be no more Northern viscachas on our continent. As you may have guessed, #Viscachas are closely related to #chinchillas.

OMG. Es sieht so aus, als ob ich endlich ein passendes Weibchen für meinen Theo hab. Vergesellschaftung scheint geglückt. Kuscheln und Küsschen inklusive.
So dürfen beide mit 16 noch ein schönes letztes Drittel ihres Lebens erfahren. 😍
Und wieder beim Tierarzt. Da hab ich mir was aufgebürdet mit dem neuen Chinchilla-Weibchen. Erst Durchfall und Zähne, dann Abzess, wieder Durchfall, inzwischen kaum noch eigenständiges Fressen und starker Gewichtsverlust. Ich verzweifle gerade und hoffe, sie rappelt sich wieder. Und das alles wegen einfach unterirdischer Haltung der Vorbesitzer. 🤬 Warum schaffen sich Menschen Tiere an, wenn sie kein Bock haben, sich zu kümmern, dass die artgerecht gehalten werden.
