Maryland’s "SUN Bucks," a summer food program for children, served a record-high number of students this summer, thanks largely to an innovative approach to enrollment: It automatically enrolled students who were already receiving SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Temporary Cash Assistance, or free or reduced-price school lunches; enrolled in Medicaid; or were in out-of-home care.
