Enough of the backstory though I'm going to get to the juicy details everyone has been curious about since I made an offhand comment about it. What the fuck is the #child-grooming channel and what point did it serve? Well, it was supposed to be a place where administrators could talk to each other about trust & safety issues related to minors and grooming behavior. There was a bit more than just grooming though, I had explained in the channel the very real risk of sex trafficking being part of this network (foreshadowing I guess). I was invited into the alliance two weeks after Hanna, some time in Feb or March 2024 I don't remember and it doesn't matter. I remember when I first met Ashten she was a mess after all of that. I spent time in the child grooming channels reassuring her that she was a victim of hanna too (I had no idea at the time a lot of what would come out later, I had just been invited to this admin discord with predominate fedi admins and thought okay ashten is clearly a victim of this and she's hurting).

During my time consoling her I brought up examples of prior incidents related to other communities outside of fedi. I brought up https://www.reddit.com/r/carlhprogramming/ and I told her that it was okay for her not to realize what Hanna had been doing. That people get tricked by this all the time, that my father had two faces. I really do feel as though my father has two faces, one side he cares and loves about me and the other is the monster who beat me and made my childhood a living hell. I explained to her that as part of healing she did not need to see Hanna as a true monster, that she could still cherish the memories that she spent with Hanna that were positive. That I had done so for my father because it made it easier. I'm still aware of what my father did to me but yeah. The point is, I spent a lot of time in that channel. A lot. I described a variety of ways that groomers will establish themselves as community figures, how they will be people you never would have guessed. That there's no real easy solution to seeing them before they strike 4/?
