Donating blood and completing the self-screen questions. I get to the single question pertaining to my condition (#chiarimalformation and the surgery that treats it). Particularly if I've had a dura matter graft. In my treatment, I had an autologous graft of sub-dural tissue.

Of all the personnel in the donation vehicle (a motorhome converted for donations) none had ever come across someone answering yes to this question. Took calls to 2 supervisors and a potential quarantine on my donation due to the uncertainty of the form's answerability.

They couldn't respond correctly that I had a valid autologous duraplasty and not a cadaverous (cadaver donor) or xenograft (bovine donor) for the duraplasty. The survey wasn't built out to properly accept the responses. They had to select NO and then comment that I was an autologous duraplasty and provide the surgery date.

Took 40 minutes to get to the actual donation and then 15 minutes to prep, give blood and wrap up. Hopefully next time won't be such a big ordeal. Maybe they'll have an asterisk by my name. Lol. 10/10. Would donate again, made easier by good veins.

@punko used to struggle with this before surgery for #chiarimalformation now I only get #migraines. Thankfully, I have found that simple preventative medication helps.

Hope you can find days needing fewer spoons friend.

Last but not least I'm a new dad. Our kid is almost 1.5 years old. It's flying by, but it's enjoyable.
