Another content, a video this time, focusing on the area I’m working upon : calculation. I’m not talking about good calculation vs bad calculation, deep vs broad variation analysis, correct or wrong. I’m talking about lack of concrete variations in my thought process. I do slightly better while annotating, but my play is very short in variations.

I want to share this nice article (published in 2019) about “how to think in chess”.
https://www.chess.com/article/view/how-to-think-in-chess
It describes exactly the point where I’m at, setting up the correct thought process.
Best quote: “Get into the habit of calculating. I'm not even asking you to calculate accurately. That's important, but it's the next step. The first step is to train yourself to calculate, period.”

In my experience teaching, playing, and hanging out at the local chess club, I have come across many players who succeed in reaching a level in the 1600-2000 range but get stuck, often for life, trying to get beyond that and become an expert or master. August 20th - I’m doing my Polgar mates in 2. On #kindle, on the #beach.
Since I can’t setup difficult #positions (… most of them for me…) on a real #chessboard I’m using an app called #chessvision.ai:
I take a picture of the #diagram and I can open it in #lichess #analysis #board on my #iphone.
This unbelievably useful feature is (still) avail with no #subscription and it works really well.

I’m following the #dojo #program since 2 months now. It’s been very useful so far, it’s teaching me how #study my #chess games, by far the big lesson for me. Thru this art and discipline I’m focusing on my weaknesses, and feel I’m slowly ironing those out. It’s also making clear to me what is slowing down my growth so much: I don’t #play enough. It’s like I need perfect conditions around me to sit and play, I need to learn how to play in real everyday world.
