I decided to trust myself. I’ve signed up to retake Cherokee 3 and then move forward with level 4. I don’t want to waste any time learning from Ed Fields. Elders aren’t here forever. 🫶🏼
So now I’m reviewing my notes from levels 1 and 2. I am retaining things. I just need to start using it more every day.

My current bird obsession…
Long-tailed Ducks 🤍
ᎧᏬᏄ - kawonu - duck
Currently researching how to say long-tailed in Cherokee. It’s likely some combination of ganvhida (long) and gadoga (tail). We have digalenvhida meaning long-eared. Ear is galeni.
This year had a lot of heartbreak and grief but there were joys too. I’m going to share a joy a day leading up to the New Year 🫶🏼
Joy 1 - ᎤᎵᎮᎵᏍᏗ ᏌᏊ - One of my best friends bought me this pendant after I passed Cherokee 1, 2, and 3 in 2024. #CherokeeLanguage
TFW I open the Cherokee Nation dictionary app and I know the word of the day before scrolling…. 🙌🏼
I made a few prints of the patron sketches and realized I never shared this little fox. 🦊🤍

I went on a winter hike to explore and was lucky to see a group of Cedar Waxwings huddled in a tree.

“If we can get the common Cherokee to know 750 to 1,000 terms or phrases, it’ll change the face of our Nation,”
