Greater Anglia has introduced birds of prey at #Chelmsford station to deter pigeons and improve conditions for passengers. A Harris hawk and a gyrfalcon, handled by a professional falconer from NBC Environment, have been patrolling the station as part of a natural pest control programme.

The visible presence of the birds encourages pigeons to move on, reducing noise, fouling and roosting in busy areas. The approach also helps limit damage to station buildings caused by corrosive droppings.

Greater Anglia said the scheme offers a humane and effective way to maintain cleanliness and enhance the passenger experience, while also giving staff an opportunity to explain the initiative to the public.
