I have not thought of this before, but it makes sense. Out of all the things we expect our government to do with our taxpayer's money (of which there are so many that are silly), why should we be complicit in financing conduct that is patently unconstitutional? This sounds like a good means of checking the government.
Tax Day was yesterday, but there is always another year, and another year.

Longtime Trump ally Steve Bannon has won a Supreme Court order that’s expected to lead to the dismissal of his criminal conviction for refusing to testify to Congress. Prodded by President Donald Trump’s administration, the justices on Monday threw out an appellate ruling upholding Bannon’s conviction for defying a subpoena from the House committee that investigated the U.S. Capitol attack. The move frees a trial judge to act on the Republican administration’s pending request to dismiss Bannon’s conviction and indictment “in the interests of justice.” The dismissal would be largely symbolic. Bannon served a four-month prison term after a jury convicted him of contempt of Congress in 2022.
That 2000 deaths are linked to illegal actions by the Australian public service and no referrals for for possible criminal prosecutions result is poison for "social cohesion".
The system that treated thousands of people so badly that they killed themselves - the government had run amok.
This undercuts #RuleOfLaw.
There were no #ChecksAndBalances stopping the illegal actions for years & years.
