sonjai always look forward to the first of the month because criterion channel changes its line-up....this month being "the 90's do the 70's" and first in the queue is boogie nights.
this is my favorite pt anderson movie (yes, wayyy more than magnolia).
the soundtrack is great and i specifically wanted to focus on "jungle fever" by the chakachas because its so salacious and lewd that the BBC banned it from being played on air (im not sure if this is still accurate).
also, i have read in a couple of places that kari kenton, the vocalist for this track, was married to tito puente (yes, *that* tito puente).
