A decade ago I scrutinized a gathering wave of #cellulosic #biofuel for @nature. That wave crashed and dissipated. I'm back now with a sober assessment of the R&D and smarter #regulation needed to put biofuels back on a socially + environmentally beneficial path.

Spoiler: It's a heavy lift. And even if biofuels can prove their sustainability, their market might be stolen by electrofuels produced with #hydrogen.
