The 3 legacy Telco's are teaming up and collectively getting into the direct-to-cell service arena - better hurry StarLink is already there and growing fast and Amazon Leo is coming up fast on the outside!

AT&T and Verizon already have partnership deals with AST SpaceMobile for satellite direct-to-device services with AST continuing to place satellites into orbit - next launch is scheduled for mid-June 2026. https://www.advanced-television.com/2026/05/14/att-t-mobile-verizon-for-satellite-jv/ #Mobility #DirecttoCell #Satellite #StarLink #Leo #Verizon #ATT #TMobile #AST #DirecttoDevice #Cellular #Communications

Interestingly, #Virchow also introduced the concept of #neuroglia as a distinct #cellular component of the #NervousSystem. This was a crucial step in understanding the cellular composition of the nervous system and laid the groundwork for later #neuroscience research on glial cells.

Rudolf #Virchow is central to the #history of #medicine and #pathology, with his seminal work #Cellularpathologie from 1858 laying the foundation for modern pathology. His principle that "every cell arises from another cell" revolutionized our understanding of #disease as a #cellular process. I bought a copy of this influential book and share insights from it in my latest blog post:

Unrelated to us, chrismoos has just released what looks like a rather comprehensive implementation of the CDMA2000 1x cellular system as open source. From a SDR PHY through RAN to CN. It includes the signaling plane, circuit swithced calls, messaging (SMSC) and packet (IP) data.
See https://1xbts.org/ and https://github.com/chrismoos/1xbts for more infromation. #cdma2000 #retronetworking #cellular #sdr

Today, @destevez is at it again: he wrote an in-depth analysis of NB-IoT (one of the LTE-family standards, aimed at lowest data rates) downlink signals. I'm slowly working through it, and I learn a lot!

By the way, people might not have noticed, but he shares recordings on Zenodo.org / publishes them within @OpenAIRE ; which makes this data available for people who want to follow along his work, but also for designers of CtFs, RFML folks and lecturers.

Understanding DDoS Scrubbing in BGP: Five Leading Scrubbers

DDoS mitigation often relies on BGP for "scrubbing", but how this appears in routing data is not well understood. We analyse five major providers to distinguish between always-on and on-demand protection, showing how mitigation manifests in practice and what it means for routing visibility and RPKI.

Raspberry Pi RP2350 board offers NB-IoT cellular connectivity, GNSS, and Wi-Fi indoor location

Challenger+ RP2350 NB-IoT is a Feather-compatible board pairing a Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller and a certified NB-IoT cellular module with built-in GNSS, suitable for long-range, low-power connectivity. It looks to be a variant of the earlier Challenger+ RP2350 WiFi6/BLE5 board that replaces an ESP32-C6 WiFi 6, BLE, and 802.15.4 module with an STMicroelectronics ST87M01 NB-IoT and GNSS module. It still offers Challenger+ RP2350 NB-IoT specifications: Microcontroller – Raspberry Pi RP2350A MCU CPU Dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 processor @ 150MHz Dual-core 32-bit RISC-V processor @ 150MHz Up to two cores can be used at a given time Memory – 520KB internal RAM 8KB OTP Storage Package – QFN-60; 7×7 mm Memory – 8MB PSRAM Storage – 8MB SPI flash Cellular connectivity Module – STMicro ST87M01-1301 LTE Cat NB2 (NB-IoT), 3GPP Release 15 Worldwide regional bands coverage - B1, B3, B5, B8, B20, and B28 Single-tone / Multi-tone / Extended TBS and 2
