My RedDoorz escape: Getting lost in Silang, Cavite, Philippines

RedDoorz helped me escape from the noisy and busy city from August 15-16, 2019.

Working as a freelance blogger, scriptwriter and actor in Metro Manila, Philippines could be exhausting. This was why when RedDoorz offered me a chance to escape from my hectic schedule in the metro, especially during rainy days, I easily said yes. The budget hotel startup offered an overnight stay in a list of hotels in Metro Manila and in Cavite and in Pampanga.

Automatically, I ruled out Metro Manila because it would not be an escape if it was in the same place I currently reside in. I lived in Pampanga from 2012 to 2013 so I chose Cavite instead.

It was not my first time to visit Cavite but I was not very familiar with the place. I enjoy going to such places, asking directions from the locals.

The RedDoorz Philippines staff booked a room for me, which was available from 2:00 p.m. of August 15, 2019 to 12:00 p.m. of August 16, 2019, at the Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel at Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road in Silang, Cavite, which is a few-minute ride away from Tagaytay City.

Reaching my destination without the help of technology is very rewarding. It is amazing how nice strangers are as they spare some time to help you get the information that you need without asking for anything in return.

On August 15, 2019, I left Pasay City, Metro Manila at 12:30 p.m. and reached Silang after 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus. Unfortunately, the bus conductor dropped at the wrong place and I had to ride two jeepneys and walk around 3 kilometers to reach the Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel plus another 100-meter walk from the gate to the reception area.

At 5:30 p.m., I reached the Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel at 5:30 p.m. Although I felt very tired, three hours and 30 minutes were shaved off my stay in the hotel so I tried to extend my waking hours and reduced my time to sleep, something I can do at home.

It was rainy in Metro Manila while the weather in Silang was as awesome as the kind locals there. It was a perfect time and perfect place to take a break even just for one day and one night.

Recently, I got rid of 3-in-1 coffee, 8 lbs and toxic people. I felt light and free as I escaped from the noise and rain in the metro without spending much.

Thanks to RedDoorz for helping me do all these. You deserve to escape, too.
