It’s a bit that time of year when we look back on the past year — including what happened here on Pixelfed. One of those things was the very first photo that I posted here.

It was a year that made you feel as if common sense was disappearing, and that new dictatorships were even being supported… I stepped away from Facebook and Instagram and sought refuge here.
But enough about the reasons, back to "now" and photography.

This year, we managed to book the same apartment again for a few days in Bologna, and that made me think back to the photo. One summer later, I used that same mirror again for a family image (a different camera this time, but still with sharp glass).

Winter is on its way, and honestly, Belgium isn’t the best place for analog photography this time of year. Everything turns grey and dark. But this one is from last spring – some fresh oak leaves and a beautiful reflection in the pond. I’m not really the type to shoot just for the sake of burning through a roll on a photo walk. But still, I’m addicted – I always like having an analog camera in my pocket or hanging around my neck. This was during a walk in a nearby village, and I just couldn’t resist that reflection.

I had been observing her for a week and thought she was definitely worth a portrait. So I asked during the #italy #holliday ! She still uses the photos on her Insta, so the portrait was well worth the film. #Portrait of Laura, taken with a #Bessa.

and the city has never left my heart since.
