I have a Bakfiets with a Shimano Steps motor. And it suddenly became super loud when I turn the cranks (either way). I have never serviced an ebike before, and the whole system is "closed", so I'm not where to even begin "debugging".
Has anyone has had a similar issue before and knows how to resolve and start this?

Now that the kids have basically outgrown the bakfiets, we've been trying to decide between getting a long-tail or a tandem. We already had a mid-tail, but were borrowing a tandem to see if kids preferred pedaling versus just passively sitting on the back of a bike.

Welp, today when one of the kids basically threw a tantrum and refused to pedal, we got our answer.
