Cardinal Zuppi condemns the violence against the Flotilla: “I felt rejection, they were in international waters. Institutions must guarantee rights.”

Images of the Flotilla? We cannot but be concerned. It’s a condemnation by the President of the Bishops’ Conference, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, of the violence suffered by the Flotilla activists. At a press conference at the end of the General Assembly of Bishops, Zuppi said he was concerned about all the times when rights are trampled on, especially when it is institutions that do so. On the penultimate day of the General Assembly of the Bishops’ Conference, journalists wanted to bring up this topic, asking the President explicitly what he had felt in the face of the images of violence following the boarding of the Flotilla. “I felt rejection, they were in international waters,” the Cardinal responded succinctly. “The feeling is of deep sorrow for those who were victims but also for those who exercised that violence because it betrays oneself. Institutions must always guarantee rights, they must be the first.”

Zuppi then continued, saying he felt revulsion for all the violence which is nothing more than evidence of hatred, “of misunderstanding of violence of which, for example, Cardinal Pizzaballa of Jerusalem has spoken to us many times.” The President of the Bishops’ Conference then emphasized that “we must continue to make the effort of dialogue” thanking “those who protest, even at a personal cost, for the populations affected by the hardness of war.”

The Cardinal then quoted the Pope who will express himself at the Assembly tomorrow behind closed doors: “As the Pope said – he observed – rights are trampled on, and that is what worries us.”

“Allegri always says it: it’s about who wins. And then you take responsibility. Milan isn’t a circus,” the speech by Adani.

Father time, this time, has given Lele Adani reason. The Milan is disastrously out of the Champions League and the former footballer during the latest episode of Sports Sunday on Rai launched his long rant against Max Allegri, who is his greatest detractor. A long speech, which touched on several points: from the responsibilities that are only placed on the company to the millions spent on the market, from the lack of play to past statements. Adani’s thesis is clear and doesn't surprise: Allegri is, in his opinion, the main culprit of the Rossoneri’s failure and the club should start over with a new coach, with a tactical approach more suitable for the history of Milan.

The faults of the company and the market
Adani’s speech starts with the harsh criticism that took place at San Siro, with the whistles targeting especially the company. “The fans suffer the most. They are the ones who actually wear the shirt, on their skin. But forgive me: Cardinal’s ownership has invested 500 million in three years. Five hundred million. Does Cardinal go on the field? Does Ibrahimovic go on the field? Does Moncada go on the field? Does Furlani go on the field? They were first criticized Fonseca and Conceição, then they were sent away because the savior of the homeland was about to arrive. Without cups, without another game a week, playing only on Sundays. He had to coach and that's it.” Adani also emphasizes that Allegri had reinforced squad: “He spent 160 million to get important players (Modric, Rabiot), nationals, heavy investments. Allegri says he has no fault. I hear former players saying that Tare has no fault. So who has it? Who chose those players?”

Allegri’s responsibilities according to Adani
“Here we are not talking about two or three unlucky games. We are talking about an entire group stage. If you finish sixth there’s a reason,” continues Adani. That then cites a famous concept of the Rossoneri coach: “He always says Allegri: it counts who wins. And so if one always wins and the others lose, you have to take responsibility. Because here there was a team that played once a week and had to fix the defense, find balance, grow. Guys, Milan doesn’t score on counterattacks with a twelve-game striker. Twelve. A third of the championship. And we’re not talking about Cremonese or Lecce. We’re talking about Milan. And the field, in the end, said this,” attacks Adani.

The lack of a vision
The former footballer, continuing his speech on Sports Sunday, returns to the concept of play: “Whoever has a line, a vision, a culture of work, who seeks to achieve the result through noble means, can be rewarded. And if they make a mistake at the last turn they can try again, because they have built culture.” Then another harsh attack on Allegri: “Whoever lives by being cunning, trying to manipulate, trying to find shortcuts to justify what is not justifiable, eventually pays.”

“Milan is not a circus”
According to Allegri, in short, the real fault of the management is having chosen a coach like Allegri: “How do you instill a mentality if you choose a coach who hasn’t produced football of proposal and a culture of work oriented to growth for seven years, assuming that he has ever done so? If you live only on today’s result, without building tomorrow, sooner or later you will pay. And indeed when everyone else was tired, wounded, drained, you could accelerate having only one game a week.” Allegri's final thesis is clear and involves the club’s history: “Milan is not a circus. It’s not a place where you arrive on Saturday, everyone laughs together, and then you think that’s enough. Milan is history. It’s culture. And since Berlusconi and Sacchi it’s also entertainment. Restoring this must be the priority.” Adani concludes by quoting Johan Cruyff: “If you don’t understand when you win, how you win, and how you play, you’ll never understand why you lose.”
