There’s a retro game in my Lounge now (another one).

Last night, instead of finishing a track, I built a retro game about zombies and pasta.
Zombies… and pasta… Does it tell you anything?

Well, if you know “They Speak Italian” and “They Speak Italian 2” (the EPs, the horror story about Italy running out of carbs), you can now actually play through it. Four levels, one guy jumping over zombies to collect pasta, bread and pizza. Your CARBS meter is your life bar.

Play it now.

Graphics are deliciously retro, early-90s DOS style, the kind of thing you’d find on a floppy disk in your cousin’s drawer.

  • Como Lake
  • Supermarket
  • The Italian Riviera
  • Vatican City

It’s in the Lounge page (here on my site) and also linked from Granita (here for the producers), takes about five minutes.

Go play it, tell me your high carb score.

The Importance of Carbs on Rest Days 🥖

Rest days are not a break from nutrition, they are a critical part of the muscle-building process.

Carbohydrates consumed on recovery days help replenish glycogen, support muscle repair, preserve lean tissue, maintain recovery-related hormones, and prepare your body to perform at its best in the next training session.

They gave me something to look forward to in the day, and I would day dream about getting to spend time with them. I would plan for it. I prioritized it. #carbs #candy #sugar #besties #bff #writer #eatmyfeelings

Build a Muscle Gain Plate at Each Meal 🍽️

The plate should match the your training goal, body size, appetite, and progress.

For muscle gain, protein stays consistent, but carbs and fats may need to increase if weight, strength, or energy are not improving.

👉 Start with protein

👉 Add a performance carb

👉 Include color for recovery

👉 Use healthy fats wisely

Good Carbs, Bad Carbs

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Is "good" really good? Or just better than "bad"? If you know me: No surprise here...

Good Carbs, Bad Carbs · Butter bei...

The usual split into ‘good’ and ‘bad’ carbohydrates is a convenient shorthand, but my version of that scale looks different: The bar for ‘good’ is higher.

Why Muscle Gain Requires More Than Protein 📈

🏗️ Protein builds the muscle, but calories give the body permission to grow

🥯 Carbs fuel better workouts

🥑 Healthy fats support hormones and recovery

🥗 Micronutrients help the body actually use the food.

The Protein Plus Carbs Combo for Recovery 🔄

🍞 Carbs refill your muscle fuel

Glycogen: Hidden Growth Battery 🔋

Glycogen matters for hidden growth because it is the stored carbohydrate energy your muscles rely on during hard training.

When your glycogen stores are full, you can lift with better intensity, complete more quality reps, recover better between sets, and keep your strength from dropping too early.

The “Recovery Meal” Mindset 🧠

The recovery meal mindset is about understanding that food is not just something you eat after a workout,it is part of the muscle-building process.

Training creates the signal for growth, but nutrition gives your body the materials it needs to repair, rebuild, and come back stronger.
