Meanwhile the #Earth continues to burn from the #ClimateApocalypse & the #IranWar. In spite of having enough (much less an excess) of #RenewableEnergy to meet its needs, the #UKGov continues to entertain these calls while backing away from #CarbonFree #renewables. @kali Maybe just maybe the only silver lining of #IranWar and closure of strait of #Hormuz is an accelerated shift towards #renewables. If we can shift surface transport plus sea borne transportation entirely, along with electricity generation, away from #oil and #gas then that would be worthy outcome. But we cannot expect politicians to deliver this.

Let not any crisis go a waste. This crisis ought not be wasted either. Shift to #Green and #CarbonFree.

The BNZ says there will be no new lending to service stations & existing bank debt must be repaid by 2030. This is the bank decarbonising risk & as you'd expect, petrol station owners aren't happy.

The Waitomo CEO reckons "Today’s petrol stations will become tomorrow’s energy stations" and "...banks need to expand their vision of sustainability."

You can smell the petrocarbons on his breath as the resale value of petrol stations just tanked.
