The ermine is not rare but discreet. Diurnal in summer, more nocturnal in winter, it climbs easily and swims well. It locates its prey by scent and kills it by biting it on the neck. Active, always on the hunt, it explores rodent burrows and scree slopes, continually entering and leaving. It is characterized by its agility, its extreme nervousness, and its constant curiosity.
