It's definitely a thing—that is to say, I've seen quite a bit of chatter about the purported evils of "seed oils", but I've never learned what the problem is supposedly. This might have something to do with scares raised about erucic acid esters being found specifically in canola oil, which is by far the most common "seed oil" in use.

After: ready for harvest, Christmas Day 2022 (3rd pic shows dried crop, 4th pic shows the pods and black #canolaseeds that are removed via the header / combine harvester.
Harvest involves removing the heads (pods) and extracting the small black seeds. The seeds are sold by the tonne.
