@YACA_UK
When formed the #BroadsAuthority took on the #navigation duties of the Great Yarmouth Port and Haven Commissioners whose duties are to maintain navigation. It obtained the right to use the term "National Park" in order to promore #tourism in the area, but it is not a National Park forced to follow the Sandford Principle.

If the #CRT is obliged to follow the "SP" industrial archeology intests will be downgraded and some canals could be closed to navigation.

You may have missed this post as I didn't include any of my usual hashtags, but I cannot praise this slim volume highly enough.

There's a reprint of the back cover text at
https://www.deuchars.org.uk/publication/#books
where you'll find links to where you can buy it. (My copy was a first 1997 edition, when it was priced £3.75, and I bought it from the author at a #festival in #Braunston in 1998.)

Attached: 1 image @PKYo@poweredbygay.social I re-read it myself immediately after posting the link and found myself amused by the way I tried to show off my knowledge in explaining how to pronounce "winding" and the references to Tom Rolt's book. There's another book that I regard as an essential read. You'll find references to it if you scroll down a bit from: https://gregafloat.org.uk/other/1998sohamlode.php#assault It's by Chris Deuchar and is "A Boaters Guide to Boating" It's aimed at members of the Historic Narrow Boat Owners Club but should be read by all.
