Good morning #CamperConversion or #DIY or #Crafting friends

I'm making curtains for #PaddyTheCaddy and have 2 windows where the metal frame is hidden behind trim, so I can't use neodymium magnets to hold the curtains like on the other windows.

I've improvised a curtain rod using a length of bamboo cane (which grew in my garden!). The system works but the bamboo has natural variation along its length. I want something which is dead straight and does not bend.

I need it to be 70cm long and around 6mm thick. I need two.

Ideally I'd like to go to a shop and look at what I'm buying. I've seen online shops selling various nylon or acetal rods but they tend to come in 50cm or 1m lengths and postage can be expensive.

Do craft shops sell something like this? Is there a DIY product that would do the job?

I survived my first night in #PaddyTheCaddy and am now enjoying breakfast of Aeropress coffee and Pain au Chocolat.

Yesterday's torrential rain eased off overnight. The rain meant I couldn't have the rear windows open overnight so it's a bit steamy in here this morning.

The road traffic started again just before 6am and the birds started tweeting shortly after that.

Despite having not yet built any furniture, I felt comfortable. That's as much mental as physical, I think. I'm in a suburban carpark and I felt safe enough. My Garmin says I slept pretty well!

Tonight is my first night camping in #PaddyTheCaddy. I have a camping mattress and camping chair and that's about it. Oh, and curtains (of a sort!).

Lots of lessons being identified. The noisiest of which related to Paddy's alarm sounding while I was locked inside. In the dark. Frantically pressing random areas of the keyfob. And finding out that I can't open the door from the inside. Yes, that was an interesting 10 seconds (which felt like 2 hours).

Maybe I won't use the #StealthCamp tag today. 🤔 😆

Well, it's very simple and probably not an ideal longterm solution, but a piece of old curtain and 6 clothes pegs can be transformed into a behind-the-cab privacy screen.

What I'd really like to know is whose dog hairs were on this curtain. All of my childhood adventures included dogs. 🥺

Mum brought several pairs of old curtains down from the junk room to see if any may be useful for my #CamperConversion.

She apologised for the awful pair that she hated.
