First time I've ever spotted one of these out at Cachalot. This Green Heron was hanging around near the beach at Abner Pond this afternoon.

Took a hike out at my old stomping grounds at the former Camp Cachalot, now the Cachalot Wildlife Management area. Looks like there's been a controlled burn over the northern part of the property, probably a hundred-ish acres.

Took the daily hike today out at the old stomping grounds. Was rewarded with a lovely sunset.

Most of my visits out there since May/June have been on the outskirts of the property rather than the "building envelope", and curiously it looks like at least some of the vandalism I'd seen others report has been patched up a bit. Spotted some I hadn't seen reported: tire marks on the tile floor of Prescott Hall.
