I bought a cheap gauge indicator to make it easier to measure the flange distance on cameras where the rear cover cannot be removed (old Barnack models, for example).
Inside, you need to remove the return spring so that the gauge’s rod does not push through the camera’s pressure plate.
I’d never used a dial gauge indicator before, but it’s a handy little tool.
