If you haven't seen it already, @Katecrawford and #VladanJoler's latest work, #CalculatingEmpires, visualises the genealogy of technology and its intersection with power, capitalism and the proclivity of nation states for dominance.

At once a #dataviz of timelines, dependencies, power relations and scale, my over-arching question (in the style of #DanMcQuillan) is "how might we subvert or resist this history to create alternative futures?"
