Taken and printed by myself in my darkroom
Caffenol development!

Finally got around to #caffenol developing my #110film from the recent #NYC snow storm. Not too many of the snow scenes themselves (I was stuck shoveling and pulling extra shifts) but there are some interesting photos spanning three different 110 cameras.

This is one of hand-held bulb mode attempts with #lomomatic110, into an empty lot just as the snow was beginning to accumulate on the ground.

There's always a #110film camera in my pocket, and that often leads to mystery shots that I just can't remember ever taking, like this one.

Not the best practice, but #caffenol developing #blackandwhitefilm does allow me to take some liberties at about 30~40 cents a shot.

Realistic, non-aesthetic film development footage.

1. The cat always sits down on the dark bag whenever I unfold it.
2. The coffee/vitamin C/crystal soda concoction for development, prepared in a kitchen with too much stuff.
3. Freshly developed film drying on the socks hanger.

#lomomatic110 snap under the train tracks. They were just about done with getting all the snow out of there too.

The rows of townhouses under the old IRT Flushing line (built up between 1907-1917 ish, now known as the 7 line) always fascinated me. While on the road directly leading to a major Beaux-art court building for the district, under-train thoroughfare was hardly prime residential estate even back in the day. Yet some of the buildings here were obviously quite upscale compared to the public housing projects a short print away.

I wonder what the rationale was back in the 1920's and 30's for this development pattern.

Apparently the city's going through another unusually large snow storm. #lomomatic110 snap after the other snow day #NYC had a week or so ago.

I wonder if the warped look is from the lens or how I scanned the film.

There's a travel ban in place, but almost everyone I know are all stuck working through the night and into the tomorrow.

Not looking forward to the 5am train ride tomorrow myself. Ack.

It's a grey day and I remembered my Substack, with which I have absolutely no goals other than 'my writings feel unfinished if I leave them on my computer'.

This post includes a recipe for caffenol, a warning against failure, and a reflection on a cold winter. It's in Dutch (sorry), but who knows; an English version might follow.

My previous #lomomatic110 with shutter issue still took beautiful, unique shots when it felt like it, it seems. Part of the fall off to the sides are from my very amateur phone scanning setup, but there's some of the lens character in it too, which is interesting for a glass triplet!

Cold, cold winter days in #nyc heading back from nightshift. This was a painful but beautiful morning.
