Forget Cadillac Ranch, Try Slug Bug Ranch!

Most anyone passing through the Texas Panhandle city of Amarillo is familiar with world famous Cadillac Ranch on the west side of town. The art installation was completed in 1974.

Well, on the east side, also along I-40, is now Slug Bug* Ranch. Slug Bug Ranch is for all those VW Beetle aficionados who love to play with spray paint. 

*For the uninitiated, “slug-bug” is a travel game where the first person to spot a VW Beetle calls out “slug-bug!” That person then gets to playfully punch (or slug) the other car occupants in the arm.

Other motor vehicle brands and several farm structures are also represented on the site. Below are a few photos of this “new” Amarillo roadside attraction. Peace!

p.s. Between Cadillac Ranch and Slug Bug Ranch, the richest person in Amarillo may be the local spray paint salesperson.

I was today years old to discover that the Cadillac Ranch line dance is some kind of weird Alberta cult thingy. Apparently Albertans may have learned it in school to prepare them to take on leadership roles. I've obviously led a sheltered life.
