I've made a blog post out of my recent lightning talk at #c4l26, sharing some ideas I've been contemplating lately while in libraries and on trails.

The post includes my full text, links to sites and images shown in the talk, and some bonus links for context (including a book link that @platypus gave on the conference Slack channel).

My thanks again to the #Code4Lib community for hosting the event, and to everyone there for their contributions and participation!

I really love this annotated definition of #digipres that Natasha Fisher (digital archivist at arquives.ca) gave at #c4l26.

In fact, I've printed it out to put on the bulletin board by my desk!

Aaah! That moment where you think of the perfect way to conclude a lightning talk while on the plane home. I *wish* I'd said "At the end, I solved a problem that I'd struggled with for years by refining my goal to focus on the essentials and locating better tools to support me. This lesson *probably* generalizes!" So pls just imagine that ending for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4OIqbIyJ_8&t=3869s . #code4lib #c4l26

Enjoyed hearing talks and meeting people at #c4l26 this year! Especially impressed to be meeting with a group which, as one participant put it, moved the whole conference across the state rather than compromise its values. (And for pulling that off on short notice, I'm willing to forgive any glitches I've encountered, not that I had to deal with any major ones.) Thank you as well to the many volunteers and site staff that made it a pleasure to join #Code4Lib in Philly!
Absolutely wonderful #c4l26 this year! Thanks to everyone who worked to put it together 😊
Agnotology is the word I didn't know I needed #c4l26

Great to get to hear @natematias present (remotely) at #c4l26 on "Cultivating Knowledge in the Age of Agnotology".

(Agnotology is the study of ignorance, and apparently also of how ignorance is cultivated. As he points out, nowdays that's not just via suppressing knowledge, but also by disseminating dsinformation and attacking sources of reliable knowledge.)

Amazing talk right now at #c4l26 by Yale’s Summer Shetenhelm
Enjoying this #c4l26 talk on uv; wish I had known about this before getting colleagues to set up WSL

Until I visited the site yesterday, I'd missed that an appeals court had stayed the ordered restoration of the slavery exhibit at the President's House in Independence NHP in Philly. It's now only partially restored, with some community-added supplements: https://phillyjazz.us/2026/02/22/the-presidents-house-philadelphia-third-circuit-court-of-appeals-hercules-posey-creative-resistance-association-of-philadelphia-tour-guides-black-history-month/

I'll be talking some about the exhibit, and some other things, in my lightning talk at #c4l26 later today.
