I’m very pleased with the #C2PA research. I was able to complete a large part of what I wanted to test and verify that it works correctly.

Unfortunately, as long as other software continues to strip metadata from files, this will work within #Vernissage instances, but not necessarily beyond them. Hopefully, over time, it will also be adopted and supported by other platforms.

Today, I finally managed to export a file from Capture One with #C2PA metadata included, after fixing a license issue.

I have been testing #Vernissage’s ability to display this data, and the proof of concept looks promising. There is still a lot of work ahead, but I believe it is worth the effort - especially as more devices are likely to have this capability built in, and provenance metadata will become increasingly important in a world where AI-generated images are becoming more common.
