For the longest time, I couldn’t see “ Ed Sullivan” from “Bye, Bye Birdie” without smiling and giggling a little. I would start rolling on the floor when Paul Lynde looks at the camera and says, in full earnestness, “Ed,I love you!” It’s the absolute topper on an overwrought, pompous song about being on TV.
