This is a common buckeye (Junonia grisea) resting amid a patch of wild Plains Coreopsis (Coreopsis tinctoria). These golden blossoms, with their deep red centers, grow freely around my home—flaring up each season like nature’s own confetti.

Noongar Name: Bindi Bindi, Barn Barn (Butterfly).
Common name: Australian Painted Lady

A common native butterfly. This poor fellas wings are buggered. It was flailing on the ground trying to fly. I gently let it crawl on my hand and it rested there for a minute or two. Then I moved it to a tree.

Guess who's a proud father of two metapods!
