Dans un beurrier breton ou beurrier à eau, on met le beurre dans la cloche dans le couvercle. La boîte elle contient de l'eau. Lorsque l'on ferme le couvercle, le beurre est plongé dans l'eau. C'est un système hermétique qui permet de conserver le beurre pendant plusieurs semaines hors du frigo.

We needed something that would fit in our fridge door, that has low sides so the butter is easy to cut when opened and with handles so it is easy to lift the container out of the fridge door shelf ~ and voila this is what i came up with! Planning to keep the body of the dish in natural clay and to paint the handles a bright red, at least for now. This is one of the main reasons I love having a ceramics practice so much, i can purpose build all kinds of things i need for my home and have 100% control over the design and function.
