#TheEconomist always berates #agriculture in Europe because it does not fit their free-market views. The stats are stark, true. The article is swinging & the over-regulation is indeed disgraceful: being told how to farm, by tax-exempt ex-pat Porche-drivers who holiday in the Maldives, to save the planet, is nauseating. We should perform stress tests & a civil defence exercise in which no food is imported for a month & the Economist staff can eat their electronic words. #bureauprats

The #EU proscribes what percentage of one's land one can farm? How can we have reached this stage of total idiocy? I do not agree with #Brexit at all but this is total and utter EU garbage lunacy. They say that transporting food that could just as well be made/supplied locally is sub-optimal due to unnecessary CO2 output from the fuel used. Could it be that totally by accident the #bureauprats will save the planet by making transport of food from afar not worth it ? #brexit #eu #trade #GlobalWarming
